Why is it that when people start a new journey in health and fitness or their Beachbody business it starts off SO STRONG, but then come week two… the momentum dies down and excuses start creeping in? It happens so often and I question the WHY behind it all. They struggle to reach their goals, to be successful and to fight the negative committee in their head.
Have you felt this way? Do you fall in the same pattern? Do you struggle with eating too much? Eating too little? Working out? Taking care of yourself? Your family? Do you create the hurdles and allow them to prevent you from living the life you desire? The life you WISH you had? The life you want? — Do you think that you ‘can’t’ do it? That it’s too hard? That it’s not ‘reality?’
I have been interviewing some of my clients and coaches to see what the CHANGING FACTOR was for them. I needed to know what change they made in their mindset that propelled them forward. How they decided that they are worth it- that they can have the life they dream of and how they are determined to make it happened. And what I discovered wasn’t groundbreaking, but it was something often overlooked.
What will make the difference?
THE SECRET TO SUCCESS IS HAPPINESS!!!!!!!
If you struggle with motivation — and we all do on some level or in passing moments–it’s important that you put your role in this world into context. That’s why I recommend making declarations that acknowledge your deficits and areas where you’d like to improve.
Most of us settle in life. Settle for what’s easy. Settle for what’s convenient. Or settle for the only reality that we know. Improving motivation means changing that reality and becoming aware that there’s more in life that you want.
Here are 10 simple strategies that can help with your awareness:
1. Write 5 things you want to improve
2. Create a list of what you love–and then assess how many of those items are actually part of your life
3. Email your friends and share your goals that you haven’t achieved
4. Set deadlines for personal, non-work-related goals
5. Ask your friends to list off areas in your life that you overlook
6. Visit your doctor and ask for a thorough physical of your health
7. Take a “before” picture of yourself
8. Set a challenge–it could be anything or join my next 12 week challenge.
9. Plan out a list of future goals for your career, health, and social life
10. Make a bucket list
There are an endless number of ways to create motivation.
All of these boil down to one thing.. your MINDSET!!! YOU have to create the life you want. But creating a list is just the start. From here, most people typically take the wrong approach.
They condemn themselves for the existence they created; place undue pressure and stress on achieving these goals. This is not a sustainable way to stay motivated. After all, stress is the poison–not the elixir. You should be moving towards mastery, not masochism.
So what should you do you do with your awareness?
First, realize that motivation is individualistic in every sense because it’s ultimately driven by one of two things: fear or happiness. Both work, but I prefer to focus on the latter.
When you find what’s missing (by using any of the strategies above or others), don’t focus on the negative. Research has shown that unhappiness and rejection is the quickest way to kill your motivation, not ignite new life.
So stop making yourself feel bad. You’re human. You’re going to have some bad days. Instead, identify all of the positives that can result from making a change. The joy you’ll feel when you look in the mirror. The extra time you’ll be able to spend with your kids. The desserts that you want to enjoy without guilt or fear of the harm it might do to your overweight body. The thrill of crossing an item of your bucket list. It can be anything.
Now there has to be a secret, right? It can’t be this easy.. right??
THE SECRET IS YOU..
You must identify the aspects that make you feel better, and then identify the steps that will allow you to include them in your life. When you are happy, you are motivated. I realize that this can be difficult as some things in life that make you happy might not be “good for you.” Create a fine line between the two and find a balance.
Feeding my natural drive, in turn, made me more motivated to improve in the other areas of my life. It’s a self-perpetuating process.
Life is about happiness and fulfillment. In fitness and health we oftentimes lose sight of that because we try forcing actions–like going to the gym or eating well–that feel like a burden, rather than patiently creating habits.
It’s much more effective to create a world where every action–in and of itself–is an achievement. This is about building positive habits, feeling good about your life, and taking a step in the right direction. The more steps you take, the better you’ll feel and the more motivation you’ll have.
The sooner your life carries less burden and is more driven by an internal desire to be happy, you’ll find that your motivation–and your life–will improve in more ways than you ever imagined.

I want you to close your eyes and imagine this:
You call the shots in all areas of your life.
You are the one to take your kids to school everyday.
You are the one who is watching your baby take her first steps– not someone else.
You are not stressed about the bills each month.
You buy that extra watermelon that your kids love so much because you don’t have to be on such a tight budget all the time.
You are taking a couple of family vacations each year and making time to go on a few weekend getaways with just you and your spouse.
You get to sleep in if you like.
When you are sick- you don’t have to stress about someone else covering your work load.
When you just want to take an unexpected day off- you do — and you don’t worry about it.
You are living debt free.
You are helping change people’s lives and saving some along the way.
You are working from home- in your yoga pants– coffee in hand while Frozen is on and your little girls are singing along.
You are happy- everyday.
You are fit and healthy- because you know it is a treat for your body and because you are getting paid to live the lifestyle.
YOU. ARE. FREE.
Okay- open your eyes. Now- you are back to reality.
|Overcome the fear and you will go far!
What does your life look like right now? Does the above that I just talked about you seem impossible? Are you totally stressed about finances? Are you rolling your eyes thinking “HAPPY? YEAH RIGHT! We are meant to be miserable in this life?”
NO! WE ARE MEANT TO LIVE OUR OWN LIVES! Ones that we create! Ones that we can ENJOY and LOVE!
It’s time that you see that big picture and it’s time for you to get started.

Now- DON’T PANIC! This really is a transition that is so WORTH the efforts. I can promise you that. From a girl who went from almost filing bankruptcy last year to someone who is about to submit a payment to pay off the VERY LAST credit card I have– I will have a total debt payoff of $14,000.00 since mid February. From someone who was completely depressed and miserable a year and a half ago– to a woman who THRIVES on LIFE! Who finds the good in everything and who lives passionately about almost EVERYTHING! Not a bad gig.

It really makes no difference what kind of journey you are on! I can’t do this.
FEAR creeps in. The reality that you live creeps in. The NEGATIVE voices creep in. And YOU start to believe them.
What in the gosh darn world are you afraid of?
FAILING??? I fail EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I just fail forward. I make sure that I am learning from my big fat failures and I move on!
Are these thought running through your mind–
UGH! I talked to one person about this fitness and nutrition thing and they rolled their eyes.
I asked someone to join the accountability group with me and she said no.
I am so darn shy, there is no way I can ‘be like you.’
I have no time.
My kids have soccer practice 4 days a week, my husband works late, I don’t have a babysitter, my dog got loose, I HAVE EXCUSES…
I don’t know everything about fitness and nutrition.
I don’t know how to do meal plans.
I don’t know very many people.
So and so would never want to hear about what I am doing as a challenger or as a coach.
I can’t work a computer very good.
I am not like you???
I don’t have very many Facebook friends.
Social Media is scary.
I am so afraid of what other people will think or say about me.
And my all time fave— I DON’T WANT TO SELL PEOPLE STUFF.
Trust me- the list could continue, but I will stop there.
Listen guys- I am NOT PERFECT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. But I have LEARNED a lot over the years. I used to live my life solely on what others thought of me. I used to care so much that I would make myself sick over what they ‘might be thinking’ about me. I would cry over ‘spilt milk’ as they say and never understood why it would affect me so much.
Now- after learning so much about myself- I believe it was always because I have a genuine heart and I seriously just want everyone to KNOW ME and my INTENTIONS. And that they are true to my core. So, I have realized something pretty life changing– NOT EVERYONE WILL LIKE ME. And that is OKAY! Not everyone clicks. It’s not something to be ashamed of or feel bad about! It’s life! I know that my life is lived for me and to better myself and my family. Along the way I intend to HELP as many people who want it and as many people who will work for it. Period! No excuses. No pity parties. No whining about things out of our control! And I want to help you realize this about yourself too 🙂 We are all people, capable of making decisions that will better us as a person!! So, why not start now? Why NOT you?!!
So- I’ve learned to rethink my life. I’ve learned to say– what is the worst someone can do?? Tell me NO? What happens if I fail? Well– i’m failing forward! I will always be reading personal development to better myself, my business, my finances, my family, my life! I am living my life by my own design. Who else can say that at 30 years old? YOU CAN– but will you?
So- answer these questions and really dig deep. WHY IN THE HECK WILL YOU LET FEAR FUEL YOU?!! Don’t do that! LIVE YOUR LIFE!! Will you really allow fear to steal your success? Because yes- I can tell you– if you surrender and make changes– you will succeed all while constantly FAILING!! Because failing is not bad! Failing is good as long as you are learning and moving forward! Make sense?!
I take pride in the fact that I have a totally unconventional job. It just makes sense for me. It can make sense for you too- if you are striving to help people change their lives and ultimately– help SAVE lives. You learn to be a great leader and grow into a person you may have always wanted to be– but just didn’t know how. I love that I have found my passion. I love that God called me to do this! He has qualified me to do my job and do it as best as I can and for that.. I am just so grateful.
This is my job description:
Wake up- workout- post on Facebook- check in with my challenge groups and coaches- write a blog post- read some of my book- play with my kids- go to the pool- take a nap if I choose- talk on the phone or video chat with some of my best friends who are fellow coaches- be at home with my family- eat dinner together- put my babes to bed- check in on FB and hang out with my hubby. — Rough life- I KNOW!

I had been a stay at home mom for 5 years when I was given this amazing opportunity. Able to stay at home with my precious little gems AND getting to help people change their lives–WHICH is MY CALLING! ALL the struggle… The pain, fear, and tough times were leading me to my destiny ALL ALONG!!!
My point is… In the THICK of it… Your life may seem out of control… it may feel like everything is going wrong… You might be struggling… Financially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically… But THE TRUTH IS… it may just be the thing needed to create your AMAZING future!!! Are you on of the MANY people who have made the New Year’s Resolution to get fit and healthy this year? The first step is deciding to take action, but the hard part is doing it and following through. Life starts to get in the way, excuses creep in and before you know it, those 3 pounds that you lost in the first week start to come back on and you get overwhelmed and QUIT. Well, not this time. NOT YOU. It is time to commit. It is time to get a system. It is TIME for accountability and support.
You see, I have literally heard every excuse in the books. I dare someone to throw something at me that I haven’t heard before. But, what it boils down to is the fact that YOU are afraid. Afraid of what MIGHT happen, afraid of what could be and afraid of the dreams and goals that you have set for yourself. It’s common and it is NORMAL! We have all been there at some point or another. Whether it is health and fitness, a career choice, family, etc.. we all have fears because we are human. I want an opportunity to change your way of thinking. WHAT IS A FIT CLUB?
My fit club is a place where anyone and everyone can come for a fun, FREE workout. We meet once (sometimes twice) a week at my home church and we get our sweat on together! Each week we do something different. Sometimes it is a T25 workout, other times a P90X3 workout, TurboFire, Brazilian Butt Lift and so many others. We also go over meal planning and recipes as well! This is a group of people who commit to each other each week. We commit to showing up, giving it our all and we talk through our week! We talk about the workouts that we have done on our own that week and we keep each other accountable and motivated. We LOVE to help each other strive to be better. It’s about personal growth, personal strength and doing it together. Let’s do life TOGETHER. It’s never too late to start.
How long does it last?
Our workouts are anywhere from 25-45 minutes. Usually most people get there a little early to find a spot in class, mingle, talk to new friends and just hang out! After the workout is over we ALWAYS high five and congratulate each other for a JOB WELL DONE!!! Then, we shake up some SHAKEOLOGY! We spend some time hanging out afterwards talking about different things beachbody has to offer, different workouts people want to try and some even decide right then and there that Beachbody is FOR THEM and we sign them up with a free account or their own fitness challenge packs!! It’s just so awesome to be surrounded by so many like minded people!
I don’t workout. I am older. Will this be too hard for me?
We always do a program that has a modifier!! So, I tell EVERYONE at EVERY fitness level that this is FOR YOU. There may be some moves that you will not be able to do AT FIRST, but that’s okay. Modify and just keep moving. As long as you are doing SOMETHING, you are burning calories and bettering yourself! What do you have to lose? Just come and bring friends with you! See what all the hype is about!
Do I need to bring anything?
I ask everyone to bring a yoga mat or a towel because sometimes we are on our hands and knees and the floor is hard to get a grip on! Wear workout clothes and bring a bottle of water! That’s it!
What is Shakeology?
Shakeology is literally the healthiest meal of the day and in my opinion it’s the tastiest!! Each week we try a new Shakeology recipe after class!! Sometimes it is the amazing vanilla Shakeology that I really like to turn into a Snickerdoodle or the chocolate Shakeology that we recently turned into chocolate covered cherries and OH MY GOSH… HEAVEN in our mouths!! I always ask for people’s preference, so we switch it up! The sky is the limit on the ways to make our Shakeology! Why do you have Fit Club? Since it is free, you probably don’t make any money?
Hosting a fit club for me is not about money at all!!! I literally want to touch as many people’s lives as I can to get them fit and healthy!! I want to inspire people to do more. I literally have a HUGE GOAL to reach as many people on the Gulf Coast to get healthy. It is never about someone’s size, shape or whatever. It is about changing the mindset to WANT a change. It is about making a commitment and sticking with it. This is the goal that I have for so many, but it isn’t about ME making the goal.. It is about YOU making the goal and following through with it. Fit clubs are a GREAT way for people to realize that working out IS FUN. And if you aren’t having fun, then you won’t stick with it. Period. Let’s have fun together! Bring friends, encourage others, set realistic goals and strive to reach them. This is YOUR YEAR!
